The second version of “After the Storm Surge” with the same dramatic personae and setting as the first version of 1877 (also in the MKdW) transfers the narrative to portrait format. It was produced by Jessen in 1879, presumably as a commission from the Hamburg merchant Emile Nölting (1812–1899).
