The simple colours of the painting surface make this portrait of the young Amrum woman in festive costume seem particularly immediate. Turned towards the viewer, her posture enables a detailed examination of the numerous details in her clothing, among them the hand-forged silver buttons of her breast jewellery and the floral embroidery on her shawl.
