In this small-format seascape, Carl Locher has captured the warm evening light permeating the atmosphere along a stretch of coast by the glassy smooth surface of the sea. Tranquillity even seems to be gradually setting in on the sailing boats: some lie at anchor out on the sea while the last tasks of the day are being carried out on others before nightfall. The work radiates a deep sense of calm – and the small format does its part in demanding an intimate dialogue with its viewers.
