Ahead of the waves crashing in, a black rider on a white horse races along with his head raised up. It is difficult to make out whether the water has already got him or he will be able to stay on the dyke. The animal’s ears are pinned back, its mouth opened slightly – we almost seem to hear its excited neighing.
