The oil study opens up into a low-ceilinged, dimly lit room. A drowned fisherman is laid out on a plain wooden table with several people grouped around: some fellow fishermen stand at his feet, silent with shock. The family members, anguish and grief etched into their faces and gestures, are huddled around the upper body of the corpse.
