The young woman lies supine in bed, one leg slightly bent, her right arm dangling limply. Are her eyes closed, or is she gazing tiredly out at the viewer? Whatever else is true, she will have to sober up first. The picture is boldly cropped, and only part of the table is visible in front of the bed. But what we do see, speaks for itself: bottles and glasses – the remnants of nocturnal carousing.
