The North Frisian painter Hans Peter Feddersen began his artistic education in the small town of Niebüll and then embarked on studies of art in Düsseldorf, later in Weimar. Numerous study trips then followed, also to Holland, Italy and Denmark, before he returned to his homeland in 1885. He settles in the Kleiseerkoog polder and turns his artistic eye to depicting the sweeping marshlands.
